John Foss is a global director and producer working with Kaleidoscope Pictures, based in the Wasatch Mountains near the Sundance Resort. He is an Emmy® Award-winning producer and a multiple award-winning director. He is also an active member of the Television Academy and the Producers Guild of America.
Foss' directing work has garnered attention from a number of festivals including the Heartland, Indianapolis and Cannes International Film Festivals. As a producer, his work has been a finalist at the Heartland, Palm Springs, Friars Club Comedy and Vancouver International Film Festivals. Foss is also a screenwriter and was a ﬁnalist for the 2010 Sundance Institute's Sloan Commissioning Grant.
Foss received his MFA in film from the renowned graduate film division at Columbia University in New York City. He worked with veteran producer Michael Hausman (Amadeus, Gangs of New York) and in development at Cinetic Media vetting material submitted to high profile talent. In a unique position Foss worked closely with producers and directors as Columbia University’s Film and TV liaison on Kill Your Darlings starring Daniel Radcliffe, Chris Rock’s Top Five, CBS's Made in Jersey, ABC's Zero Hour and FX’s The Americans.
Foss has also acted, having trained in NYC, Denver Center for the Performing Arts and workshopped at the Sundance Institute and Columbia University. His acting credits include film, television and commercials. Additionally, he studied film at the Colorado Film School and the University of Utah, graduating with a B.A. in film studies and a B.S. in communications.
